Problem with ACE, categories and home page (3 posts)

I have the category plug ACE activated. I am having a slight issue though:

I run a sports blog covering football. There are some posts I want to show up in 'Team A' category only - which is fine. On ACE I selected the option where 'Team A' category does NOT show up on the home page. Every post I select with that category, it only shows up in that section - and NEVER on the home page.

But there are posts and stories I make where I need to have it on the home page AND in the individual team categories (because they are included), but I can't have both.

Problem with ACE though, if I don't select it to exclude 'Team A' from the home page - EVERY single post I make in 'Team A' also shows up on the home page - which I don't want.

Is there a plugin, or setting I can change to allow me to be selective on every individual post where it shows up?

Can only think of using the template tag, query_posts(), and the post__not_in parameter to exclude post on an as needed basis...

    I'll investigate this case.
