I'm trying to back up my blog so that I can move it to a new server, but I keep getting 550 errors from my FTP client saying that it can't open some files in the wp-cache folder because there's no such file or directory.
Do I need these? Is this a normal problem, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance.
What FTP client are you using?
And where is it looking for a wp-cache folder?

Using the FireFTP client for Firefox. The wp-cache folder is in the wp-content folder I believe.
Interesting. I don't have that folder on my site. I have a CACHE folder, but not wp-cache. What plugins are you using? One may have made a symbolic link (folder alias) with that name, and the FireFTP app is puking on it.
Also, try another FTP client. http://winscp.net/eng/index.php for Windows or http://cyberduck.ch/ for Macs are both free and work well.
