   i have regular backups of my database sent to me weekly using wordpress database backup plugin.
   i'm trying to restore the database from my online site to my local installation of wordpress, and the thing is only the homepage works properly. when i try any other page on the site i get an "object not found" message. thi is despite the fact that the posts do appear on in the control pannel. i'm using the exact same version of wordpress and all plugins, so i don't get why it's not working. does this mean the backups are no good? any ideas?

   yea, i did what it sais in the "move to new server" section, but it doesn't work properly.

   Did you change all of the urls in the database?

   i changed the two url's in the wp-options table. the thing is, when i navigate the site it seems to go to the correct url's (for example localhost/wordpress/archives/466) but the post that was suppose to be at that adress isn't found, despite the fact that it does appeare in the posts when i chech through the control pannel.

   also, it's not just the posts that don't work, it's also the pages.
