Problem moving to a new domain WordPress 3 MU site (6 posts)

    I recently duplicated my site on a new domain for testing purpose.

    I downloaded all the files and Data Base (DB) from existing site.
    Uploaded all the files to the new site's server and new DB.
    Changed the "Site" and "Home" in the WP-option in DB and configured the wp-config.php file for the new location also.

    The problem is it keeps re-directing me to the original site's registration page for some reason. (Not original site's home page but registration page)

    I am 100% sure I did everything according to the standard domain migration procedure. (Before I activated the MU function, I did exactly the same and it worked fine).

    I also tried to change the
    define( 'DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'MY OLD SITE' )
    to
    define( 'DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'MY NEW SITE' )

    from the following section in WP-config.php

    define( 'MULTISITE', true );
    define( 'SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true );
    $base = '/';
    define( 'DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'MY OLD SITE' );
    define( 'PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/' );
    define( 'SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 );
    define( 'BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1 );

    but it did not work and the browser says
    "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

    What am I doing wrong?

  2. Multisite stores the URL in many, many places in the database. Changing the URL like you do for single WP does not work properly because of this.

    Go in to your db & do a search, finding the rest of them.

    Thank you for responding.

    you were right. The main table was wp_blogs, as soon as I changed that one the duplicated site appeared and stopped redirecting to the original site. There were some other tables needed to be changed too but that was the main one.

    Thank you for the help.

    Actually, now I have problem with the sub-sites (sub-domain).

    I changed all the DB tables from .com to .org (.org is the domain I use for testing) but all the sub-sites (sub-domains) are not working even after I changed the tables.

    The main site is working but non of the sub-sites are working......

    What am I doing wrong?

  5. Did you enable wildcard subdomains on the new server?
