Problem moving site to new server (2 posts)

I have a problem when moving a site to a new host and sincerely hope someone can confirm if I'm thinking right or not:
    Short version:
I've moved all files to server B, with an adjusted wp-config.php and also a complete database dump.
As a shortcut I uploaded WP 2.6.2 files to server B instead of the WP 2.5.1 files from server A (because the database structure is said to be the same).
When I try to login I get several errors.
I can not just replace the 262 files with 251 files - since all plugins probably are "active" - can I?
Would I have to deactivate all plugins on server B before I make a new database dump to import on server B (and then upload WP 251 there)?
    Thanks for any hints,
    Kjetil
PS An odd thing: I've actually migrated two WP installations between the same two servers, and the other installation works next to perfect. Funny?

The process is completed and (next to all) works fine.

There was one difference between the database dumps imported to the two WP installations: One exported using MyPHPadmin did not work. After replacing the dump (.sql file) with one made by my host (from server A) all is fine. One installation remains to be updated from WP251 to 262, though.
