[resolved] Problem moving blog from local server to remote host (6 posts)

I was working on my blog locally on my Mac and then wanted to upload it to my remote host. I followed the directions in the WP Docs "Moving WP to a new server." The site successfully exists (most pages, anyhow) on the new server. However, some pages, including the wp-login still want to point to my local host server.

I looked on the WP Forums and found this article: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/move/. Per what it said, I looked in my phpMyAdmin to see if the 'site_url' value within the 'wp-options' table displayed the new blog address. The value displayed the old local server URL. Now, since I have a Mac I can't used the article's suggested search software ('SCR 1.0.002 Freeware edition') to change the value.

How can I change the 'site url' value to my remote host's site URL on my Mac? Or is there some other way to accomplish this so that my blog points to the remote host URL?

    Thanks in advance

Hmm - you could always e-mail it to someone with a PC who would do it for you then e-mail it back. :-) I don't know of a mac equivalent.

Or, you could do the s&r right inside phpmyadmin if you are brave (or possibly foolhearty). Here's a google search that turned up results.

You'd be safest doing my first suggestion. Feel free to e-mail me and I'll get it back to you tonight. Takes about 0.5 seconds to run SCR.

E-mail address good for one day:

I looked in my phpMyAdmin to see if the 'site_url' value within the 'wp-options' table displayed the new blog address.

Well, if you can look at it, you could edit those values as well.

Brockangelo - Thanks for your help. Would I email you the database? A zipped version?

Moshu - Thanks as well. How would I edit the value in phpMyAdmin?

Select that table for Browsing and then click on the "pencil" at the beginning of the row.
