I have a blog at wordpress.com and I exported it (it says it's around 8MB) and now I tried importing it to my self-hosted blog. It didn't work and the error says:
File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.
The xml file is not empty as I just checked it. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

I'm sorry the size of the xml file is 9.74MB but the error message doesn't say anything about size being an issue. I'm not sure what the 2nd part of the error message means since I don't know how to edit the php.ini(?)

Nevermind, I got it to work by splitting the xml file with this program. http://www.rangerpretzel.com/content/view/20/1/
