Problem Importing old blog into WordPress.org

    Hi

    I would like to import my blog from wordpress.com into my new self hosted wordpress.org site, but when I try do so I get an error message.

    These are the steps I have followed so far,

    I have Logged into the old blog, gone to Tools → Export, and downloaded the XML (WXR) file to my computer.

    In the new blog, I have gone to Tools → Import → WordPress, and uploaded the file downloaded in step 1.

    When I get to the final stage of the process I click ” Download and import file attachments ” followed by submit at which point the installation fails with the following error message.

    “The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
    Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    I have asked my host servers at godaddy.com but so far I have not been given any feed back.

    My question is, what am I doing wrong?
