problem creating text rollover on existing sub-menu

    I’m trying to customise a submenu on an existing client site. I need to create rollover (hover) links that match the style of the main navigation system (ie. greyed text turning black on mouseover, and retaining black on state when page is being viewed)

    The sub-menu is in the PORTFOLIO section. Categories are Edinburgh, London, Dublin, Cornwall.

    My problem is two-fold. I’ve tried various versions of code utilising (li:hover) etc but it doesn’t seem to have any effect. This opens up the secondary issue. I don’t know where best to place it in the style sheet.
