[resolved] Problem after Update to 1.8.1 (13 posts)

    Hey,

i got everything working perfectly on 1.7.2, but after the update to 1.8.1 Autoptimize doesnt do anything. I activate the same Checkboxes as before, excluded the same things and autoptimize just doesnt combine and minify the files. They are all listed as normal seperate files in the resources tab of Google Chrome.

So basically, autoptimize isnt doing anything and i dont know why.

    http://www.tchnws.de is my blog-site.

I also deinstalled the plugin and reinstalled it, just to make sure i have a clean version. same problem, nothing happens.

I hope you can help me.

And are you back on 1.7.2, or still on 1.8.1 now?

Back on 1.7.2 to make it work. But i can switch to the new Version for you so you can check on my site...

Switched Back and cleared the cache. You can have a look now.

Now that's weird, there's absolutely no mention of autoptimize at all in the source ... Going to do some thinking (and code comparison) to see if I can make sense of that. Would you have a non-production environment on which we could do some debugging?

(feel free to roll back to 1.7.2)

No, unfortunately i have no online testenvironment, so we need to do the debugging on the live site. But if i dont delete the cache, the user won't notice. But you dont. So i can give you the output of whatever you want me to output.

hmmm, there are 2 more versions between 1.7.2 and 1.8.1; 1.7.3 and 1.8.0. Could you try out 1.7.3 and see if that works?

1.7.3 -> same problem, nothing happens
    1.8.0 -> same problem.

Im downloading my FTP Files right now to make a Dev-Environment.

Feel free to tell me what to debug and what you need in the meantime.

ok, so there's something between 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 which breaks things for you. I'll look into the diffs between those two versions.

got it; your theme is missing the opening html-tag. as of 1.7.3 this is a requirement for Autoptimize to kick in (to avoid acting on non-html output such as sitemaps or rss-feeds). Add an html-tag in your theme's head.php and you should be good to go.

    Actually i have a opening html tag: <!DOCTYPE html>

It's the tag for html5. Maybe you can adjust your code to check for this kind of opening html tag?

Argh, got it, i need a normal <html> tag and before that a declaration of the Doctype. Sorry. Thanks for your help, Dude!

EDIT: It is working now! Thank you. :)
