    I'm missing something.

I can log out from my blog and it will still let me post a comment under my account name. It appears on the surface that anyone can comment under any name they want, regardless of whether someone already has an account under that name.

Is there a way to prevent this?

    1. it could be your wp caching plugin issue
    2. or your browser cache issue

If you are using caching plugin, try to clear all cache then if not try to clear your browser cache.

I used a different browser and went to another blog. I was obviously not logged in because the Word Press bar the top was missing. I left a comment with the name of the owner of the blog. No problem.

Add your 'name' to the comments blacklist.

Thanks, Impostercide looks like what I need. I'm surprised, though, that this isn't a core feature.
