• built a new wp site on one of my domains, then cloned it to a new domain, same server and all went just fine, permalinks work as should. Now I cloned it the exact same way to a third domain, and all is fine except pretty permalinks will not work, 404 error. I have checked the hataaccess files to make sure they are correct and tried everything I can find on the web for help. the full site works fine using the default settings for permalinks, any of the other settings it does not work.
    here is the working site original http://www.richardbrownphoto.com and here is the one with the problem http://www.richardbrownphotography.com
    I also tried a third one just to test a clean set up again at http://www.productphotographerseattle.com and it has the same issue.
    any idea, I have also contacted the server company but since I have 14 sites on the same server it seems unlikely its a server problem since 2 work just fine.

  • Can you post the code block from your theme that begins with something like …

    if have_posts() : while have_posts() : the_post()

    Looks like your links on each of those sites all end with ‘/postname’ which makes me think that should actually be a variable or something (i.e. $postname).

    Did you happen to upgrade to WordPress 3.3 around the time this started? Could be that something in your theme is no longer compatible with the latest WP release.
