POWWEB Domain Change (6 posts)

I have a wordpress blog that is linked to my domain and hosted on powweb. My domain expired, but I just got it back today.

In the meantime, I asked POWWEB to change the URL of the WP blog (to another domain I own through powweb) so that I could login to WP-Admin and make sure my files were still there. (I WAS PANICKED)

They re-directed the blog to the other domain, which allowed me to login. The front page was all there, but all the pages and links to actual blog entries were being directed to a static page that I had made.

So, I went back to POWWEB to have them just put everything back to the original domain mapping and wordpress login (once I got my domain back) and the problem still exists.

When I login to WP, all of my files, blogs, pages, themes are there. When I log in to POWWEB, all of the files for WP are there in htdocs/blog

WHY ARE THEY NOT LINKING UP? IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX THIS??
PLEASE HELP!!! I am lost :)

    Thanks,
    Sarah

Consider using phpMyAdmin to make sure your wp_options table has the correct values in siteurl and home.

siteurl is your WordPress address (URL) and home is your Blog Address (URL).

    And, some other info:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I found out that the home in phpMyAdmin was the same as the siteurl and that was messing up all the links. I am afraid to change the home to my blog address (url)..will that cause any problems?

Instead, I changed the blog address in the WP Admin page (not in phpMyAdmin) and that fixed all the links, pages, etc. I am so happy that it is all there and actually works, but I am going to eventually want to switch back the blog URL. Is that the only thing I will need to do (change the home in phpMyAdmin to match the Blog Address in the WPAdMin)..as long as the site_url remains the same??

    I would love your advice!

    THANKS!!

You'll have to give me some concrete examples there--a bit confused.

    For example:

in the WP Admin Panel, under SETTINGS, GENERAL, I currently have:

    WordPress address (URL) - http://sarahpotempa.com/ps
    Blog address (URL) - http://sarahpotempa.com/ps

Under phpMyAdmin, wp_options I currently located:

    siteurl - http://sarahpotempa.com/ps
    home - http://sarahpotempa.com/ps

Previously, I had a different blog address only in the WP Admin Panel:

    WordPress address (URL) - http://sarahpotempa.com/ps
    Blog Address (URL) - http://www.beautybent.com

I changed this to match the phpmyAdmin. My question is if I changed the blog address (URL) in the WPAdmin and in the phpMyAdmin (wp_options) will this successfully keep all of my files in http://sarahpotempa.com/ps, but still allow you to view the blog when you type in both URLs?

Looks like you are asking about two domains, one blog
