• My client would like his archive of podcast posts (html/text content) to be viewable at the /podcast url, but this appears to be used by powerpress to serve the RSS podcast feed. (thefoundation.com/podcast)
I read another support post that suggested changing the “Podcast Permalinks” setting from the basics setting page to “Match feed name to Post/Category” but this just caused the /podcast url to redirect to /podcast/podcasts. How can I move the powerpress feed elsewhere so that I can use the /podcast url?

There’s no “hijacking”, this is how slugs work in WordPress. If you make page called “podcast” you then cannot create other items with the same name. “rss”, rss2″, “atom” and “feed” are good examples of pages you cannot create slugs for.

The way to get around this is to enable that option that was suggested to you. Go to PowerPress Settings > Basic settings. You need to then click the option to show advanced options, if not already expanded. then for the field labeled “Podcast Permalinks”, set “Match feed name to Post/Category”.

Note: This only works if the page already existed prior to installing PowerPress. If you are trying to create this page after PowerPress is enabled, it will not work, WordPress will add something to the slug name, like a 2, e.g. “podcast2”. To get around this, temporarily disable PowerPress, then create your page with the slug name “podcast”, then re-enable PowerPress. Don’t forget to have that Podcast Permalink setting configured as well.

Oh, you will also need to go to the WordPress Settings > Permalinks page, and click save once after you did everything else previously mentioned. This regenerates the permalink map (for lack of a better name for it) saved in your database.
