    Hey,

I’m trying to get my front page to display my most recent post in a specific category (news), which I’ve gotten to work just fine… But I’m also attempted to have my blog page display all of my posts. If I change my “front page displays” settings in Reading Settings, it makes it so my blog page displays my index.php file for some reason, so it duplicates itself. How can I make my blog page my general page for posts, while still having my most recent post display on my front page?

  • You would need to create a static front page and then set that new front page to use a custom page template that includes a custom query.

Thanks, got that set now…except my blog is somehow pulling from my home.php template now, instead of my index.php? It’s set to pull from my default template.

Just discovered: it *can’t* be named home, because then it will default to home instead of index. Renamed homepage and it’s mostly working fine now.

Might I suggest renaming the template page-home.php? I seem to recall the the filename homepage.php is handled slightly differently by WP compared to a generic custom page template.
