Hello All -
I am requesting help here as I am not an computer engineer OR a rocket scientist major!
I am having a bear of a time with WordPress so far as I cannot get it to "post via email." PLEASE send help with your knowledge as I have exhausted all resources it seems.
I have my blog set up and running but it WILL NOT post via email.
It seems a bit confusing in setting up the OPTIONS / Writing "post to email" screen in WordPress:
(WHAT mail server do you use: incoming or outgoing?
AND - do I use the mail server from my standard ISP - or the one from the new "secret email" I am setting up? AND does it matter? Also - does the port number matter? Is Port 110 incoming or outgoing?)
(I am assuming this is the "secret login name" not my standard ISP login name, correct?)
(I am assuming this is the "secret password name" not my standard ISP password, correct?)
Then I would need to set up a new email acct in Oultook to post via email to WordPress from my desktop - correct?
Also, do I need to edit or change the wp-mail.php file? what part specifically?
In my wp_config file the line :
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
should 'localhost' be changed to something like this: mysql29.seceretmailhostprovider.net
I've tried it both ways - no luck.
What are the options? I've read the WordPress doc re: cron jobs and the other bits of "techy speak" seem a bit out there .
Are there SIMPLE options to set up to check an email posted to the blog?
IT would be great if WordPress would put up an actual example with image sequences showing the whole setup procedure. You would get a lot more converts to the program, I guarantee.
I will REALLY APPRECIATE any help you can provide.
Thanks for your time here,
