Hi all.
My posts aren't showing in the right order
http://www.wvhgc.org/Blog/
Have a look at the dates on the posts appearing on the front page.
They are all mixed up in the wrong order.
This is the same no matter what theme i have activated.
Any ideas?
Have you tried:
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
Yes I tried dissabling all the plugins, same problem stays.
I tried installing the 2010 theme but this is the srror I get once its activated
Fatal error: Call to undefined function home_url() in H:\inetpub\vhosts\wvhgc.org\httpdocs\Blog\wp-content\themes\twentyten\header.php on line 63
Sorry - didn't spot that you were still using 2.9.2. Try the (old) default Kubrick theme or the Classic theme instead.
Ok I tried that and it installed but the same problem stays. Have a look at the theme installed now.
Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
Ok I uploaded the entire plugins folder again. same problem stays.
No - you need to reset the plugin folder. Please read the page at the link I gave above.
Ok I did it via FTP. I had to delete the remote folder then upload at from my hard drive. Still no success.
Is the wp-content/plugins folder completely empty?
I have realsied that in the wordpress settings. Under reading. the "How many posts to show", when I change this number nothing happens.
Do I need to reinstall wordpress again?
Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress 2.9.2
Ok I tried that esmi. No success.
Have you tried repairing your database? Do you have any database backups from before this problem?
No I dont have any back ups :(
Have you tried repairing your database?
How do I repair the database?
By using a database management tool like PhpMyadmin.
Ok I tried that. Heres the error generated by the server."The storage engine for the table doesn't support repair"
Try asking your hosts for assistance.
Hi Esmi. I just found the problem. It turned out that the users of the blog were using the "Sticky" function with their posts which was throwing out the order of the posts on the home page. I removed all the "Sticky" tags and the homepage appears fine now. Thanks again for all your help.
