[resolved] Posts don't display on sub-blogs after update (6 posts)

I updated to WordPress 3.13 through my Network admin menu today, and now my sub-blogs can't display posts or tag/category pages. One blog shows a 404 page, the other shows the index.php but is blank where the content would though (I haven't added a 404 page to that theme yet though). New posts also don't display.

Everything on the main blog appears to work fine.

I am not sure if I did something wrong or not (this is my first time updating a Multi-site), or if there is more I have to do.

    What could the problem be?

Your problem is likely to be with the rewrite rules needed to translate the virtual directory names used by WP to the physical directories (.../wp-content/blogs.dir/<blog ID>/file...) on the server. The URLs are either not being rewritten at all, or are being rewritten incorrectly.

First step is to open up your .htaccess file and check the rewrite rules against your backup copy.

  3. Second step is to try re-saving your permalinks.

Wow, that was surprisingly easy. Everything looked fine on my htaccess file, so I decided to re-save the permalink structures, and now the posts are showing up again.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. Yeah, there's a wild quirk where that happens, but it's not even on 1% of installs :(

  6. Something flushes the rewrite rules but we're not exactly sure what or where.
