   Hello,

   When I'm logged in and add new posts, they do not appear online. The posts are marked in a category and I have used the update/publish button.

   But when I adjust existing posts these changes are also not published online (while they are changed when I view the post in wordpress).

   Can anybody help me?

   Not really so. Under what user role do you generally post or login?

   As administrator, it is the only account I have.

   Deactivate all plugins and revert to Twenty Eleven theme and see if it helps. You can return to your current settings after troubleshooting.

   I can't deactivate any plugins because it is not in my control panel list. Under 'Appearances' I see 'Users', where I should see 'Plugins'.

   Altough I am an admin, I can only adjust a small part of the entire site. The site is for a large organisation and I can only access the part of our office (in "Hengelo").

   Thanks a lot already for the effort! any more ideas?

   Check if you still have admin status. If not ask someone with admin status (if any) to see if he/she too faces the same problem.
