posts disappearing upon 'publishing'

I have been using Word Press without a problem for about a year. . . but several months ago something seemed to change. Now when I add a new post I cannot insert a picture and when I “Publish” the txt of the post all that gets published to the site is the heading – not the post. Very frustrating!
