Posts by category on homepage

I am trying to make a wordpress based site that looks like news portal. As I’m not very good with coding, I found Posts per Cat plugin to help me display latest posts from all categories on my main page. However, it doesn’t have many options for styling, it’s pretty basic. Are there any similar plugins?
