Posts being set to ‘private’ accidently

    This may seem weird but stick with me here. In the past week, on 3 seperate unrelated blogs I have seen this problem – both from co-workers, other writers and friends.

    What will happen is when you write a post, then go back and edit the post, then save it, sometimes it will somehow set the post to ‘private’. Most of the time we don’t realise that it has been set to private since that wasn’t the intention. In all cases, the area where you set private/publish/draft has been collapsed so there was no way it was accidently clicked, plus it would be too much of a co-incidence.

    What could be causing posts being saved to switch to a ‘private’ state? The 3 blogs we have had this happen on are very seperate blogs (one of them is Techcrunch), reported by 4 different writers and it has happen to me twice.

    I can’t find what could be causing it – is this some sort of known bug? It only happens when you update and save an existing post.

    Well great… I have this exact same problem, and this is the only support post I’ve found about it so far… Does anyone know the cause of this bug ?

    I’m running the latest release of wordpress 2.1.3, and on many occasions I will edit a post, click “Save”, and find that the post have been made private… I then have to go back in and manually republish it.

    Any ideas ?

    I had this exact same thing happen to me last night. I’ve been using WordPress for about 2 years now and keep everything up to date. BTW, I love WordPress and rarely have problems.

    Last night I went in and slightly edited a post I had made the day before. When I went to look at the edited post I saw it had the word “Private” at the beginning of the title of the post and the post itself wasn’t viewable to the public. I went back in and made a very slight edit again to the post and it went back to normal.

    I wonder what’s up.
