Can you post a link?
What theme are you using? :) It doesn't look to 'distant' from the 2010 theme.
What did you try to edit/change before it turned out like this... or was this theme like this to begin with?
I'm only asking because, since it looks like a 2010 with the photo changed out and the background color changed - it might just be easier to start over with a fresh 2010 and then make your color modifications in a child style sheet and re-upload your header image.
It is 2010. I didn't create the site, but was asked if I could help fix it. So I don't know what might have been changed. I also don't know much about this stuff... so how do I change it to a child style sheet?
Thanks!
Well it just looks like some divs are out of wack but at this point it would probably be easier to start with 2010, since that is the basic lay out, and just change your header image then your background color.
Child themes...
You don't want to directly edit the 2010 theme, because whenever you update wordpress, it is going to overwrite your changes. So we create a 'child theme'. At the most basic a 'child theme' can be a duplicate of the 2010's style sheet in it's own unique folder. You edit that 'child style sheet' to change the background color with out touching the original 2010 style sheet.
Try reading this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
Dig in at "The required style.css file" :-)
Came back to add...
Ahhh, but if you are just changing your background color (from 2010's white to peach) and your header image, you can do that in the admin area and I don't think you need to go with the 'child theme' for such simple changes.
Restore to the 'unedited' 2010. If you think the 2010 theme itself was edited then I believe you could switch to 2011, uninstall the 2010, then reinstall it from your admin area in APPEARANCE --> THEMES ---> INSTALL THEMES and then search for twenty-ten to reinstall it. :)
I've got 2010 reinstalled, and I'll just make the changes from there for now. But if I need to make other changes later that would benefit from being done in child theme, how do I "make a new directory in wp-content/themes," as per link you gave? I can't find where to go. Thanks for your help!!!
You'll need access to your hosting account - if they have a file manager access or via FTP (file transfer protocol) access. :)
I also believe that in the same place you reinstalled the 2010 theme there is an 'upload' option (for what you have created on your own computer).
Thanks, I've turned all this information over to the person in charge of the blog and so far it's looking better.
Thanks again!
