Posting to wp-login.php from another form? (1 post)

I've tried this numerous ways. First off this client is using thesis, so I'm trying to avoid doing this on the back end as I'm already underpaid. I tried a usual form, mimicing the original data fields from wp-login.php.

You'll see the input names match the original wp-login.php, the thing is, when I send the data with the form, i have to effectively login again on wp-login.php page.

So my question is, is there something I'm missing? My client doesn't want a custom wp-login.php. Can we not just use another form on the site (same wp installation) and login from there?
