This is an older issue that has not been addressed and is of critical importance to anyone who wants to post scheduled events. I have upcoming events and must use todays date, or earlier, to get it posted and displayed. Obviously, posting an upcoming calendar event is important. Users should be able to select 'published' as an option that would override WP changing the status back to 'scheduled' if it is a future event.

Actually, why not just change your theme to show the future posts as well as already published ones?

i tried changing my theme but it still doesnt post the posts with "Scheduled" status

And looks like wordpress has no plans of fixing this!

So despite the new look of version 2.5 and up, because of this bug, I must say that new version of wordpress sucks!

I'm a little confused why someone would go and change their theme when the feature is not working as intended. In my case, I can try to change the time and status to the current time and "Published" and WordPress just reverts because the previous time and "Scheduled".

I use this plugin to achieve "future" posts:
