    Hello, i would setup a news site where users can post contributions filed per geographical zone, eg:
    mydomain.com -> cityname.mydomain.com.

    What s the correct approach?

    1 - Using the cityname as category ?
    mydomain.com/category/cityname , in this case category can be renamed so it looks like mydomain.com/city/cityname

    2 - using wp mu so it will be cityname.mydomain.com

    Another question, how to force users to use a default list of tags (eg politics,economy etc) ?

    thanks all for help and god save wp!

    i would setup a news site where users can post contributions filed per geographical zone

    - WP: You could use single WP and set up categories per geographical zone and call posts per category from your home page.
    - WPMU: You could set geographical zones in subdomain or subdirectory structure, and it could scale exponentially depending on your server/s and using multiple databases.
    - In your case, I see choice between WP and WPMU would also depend on administration of the site. In single WP, one person could easily check all contributions in one panel while in WPMU, you would have to go to EACH blog/site to approve or delete contributions, what if you have 100-3,000 blogsites? Or do you have a lot of staff to handle that?

    Another question, how to force users to use a default list of tags

    I don't remember a plugin for that in single WP, but for WPMU, you could use default categories for new blogs plugin.

    Thank you mercime for reply,
    yes is true that WPMU needs heavy work to check each subdomains (in my case 300...).

    Il try some tests with WP "classic".

    Thanks again.
