    I'm interested in the idea of using a WordPress Page to post instead of the wp-admin/post.php page. Something that mirrors the contact author plugin except it would be used to post if someone is logged in.

    Has this been done?

    I don't know of any plugin or hack for this, but I do have a Q: Why would you need to duplicate the write post feature on a Page when you can add a link to post.php that appears only if you're logged in:

    You can even get inline editing of posts now:

    Recreating post.php on a Page seems like...overkill.

    Kafkaesqui,

    Why would I need to duplicate the write post feature? You must agree that there are multiple reasons for such request -- everyone has differing needs.

    In this particular case it would be to prevent the normal user of the application from having access to the wp-admin section. They will only see the themed frontend to the site (intranet).

    So to post a report or edit a previously published report the view is the same as if you were just reading a post/report.
