Whenever I try to make a new post (just a post, not creating a new page), my browser freezes up.

From the dashboard, I click on "Write a New Post", then the post page takes a while to load. sometimes freezes up. Then, when I click on "Publish", the browser stops responding, and stays that way for a while. It eventually comes back to responding and the post is made. When I try to exit the post-new.php page via clicking a link on the page, it freezes again.

Please give me some insight on how I can fix this problem. As you can imagine, it is very annoying.

Editing posts and publishing pages is alright. This is the only time it freezes up.

I host using hostican.com, and I installed wordpress using the fantasico feature in the cPanel from hostican.com. I upgraded to 2.6.2 using WordPress Automatic Upgrade 1.2.2 By Keith Dsouza.

Also....I have not had this problem with the wordpress.com. Just with the self-hosted option.

    Some things to try:

    • Empty your browser cache.
    • Try a different browser.
    • Temporarily disable all plugins and see if the problem goes away.
    • Temporarily switch to the default theme and see if the problem goes away.
    • If you have one, check the error_log file in your WordPress directory.
    • Check that you are not having problems with your home computer operating system, firewall, anti-virus, internet connection, etc.
    • Reinstall the latest version of WordPress manually. See: Upgrading WordPress Extended
