Postie not floating image correctly (5 posts)

I'm using Postie 1.4.1 on WP 3.0. When I tested the system to see how it handled images, it did not float the image to the left that. I did nothing special in the email, just inserted the image at the top before the text I typed.

    Here's my Postie image settings:
    Automatically insert image gallery: no
    Post Images At End: no
Start Image Count At 0: no
    Image Place Holder Tag: #img%#
    Image template: wordpress default
    Code shown below that:
    <div id="attachment_{ID}" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: {MEDIUMWIDTH};"><a rel="attachment wp-att-{ID}" href="{PAGELINK}"><img class="size-medium wp-image-{ID}" title="{TITLE}" alt="{CAPTION}" src="{MEDIUM}" /> </a><p class="wp-caption-text">{CAPTION}</p></div>

    Use custom image field: no

Based on the WP default, it should float the image left, correct? I'm probably overlooking something basic (done that before).

Tried changing "Automatically insert image gallery" to "Yes" to see what happens. Had no visible effect. Also, unlike the first test (where I manually checked Postie), this one I let run automatically. The results were identical.

Just looked at the post and noticed something. When I went to edit the test post after it was published, I found the following in front of the image code (the image was inserted at the top of the email before the text):

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML ChildAreas="4" xmlns:canvas><HEAD> <META content=text/html;charset=iso-8859-1 http-equiv=Content-Type> <META name=GENERATOR content="MSHTML 8.00.7600.16588"></HEAD> <BODY style="PADDING-LEFT: 10px; PADDING-RIGHT: 10px; PADDING-TOP: 15px" id=MailContainerBody leftMargin=0 topMargin=0 CanvasTabStop="false" name="Compose message area">

The following was after the text itself:

    </FONT></DIV></DIV></BODY></HTML>

The email I sent was from a Windows 7 machine using Windows Live Mail (the new version of Outlook Express/Windows Mail). There was nothing in the email itself except the image and the text.

I've been trying various settings to see if it makes a difference. Just ran another test and manually checked Postie. I got this message about 40 or so times (same exact message) showing right above the emailed test post:

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 10 in /home/gcgop/public_html/wp-content/plugins/postie/postie-functions.php on line 970

Looks like I found a solution to the image placement (though not the "Warning" mentioned above): change the prefered email to plain. I had it as HTML.

I hope this helps someone else later. :)
