This is now a serious problem that shows no sign of being resolved. It seems to have started after the most recent WordPress update, but I can't be sure about that.
I've been using Postie for a bit over a year now, and apart from the odd glitch, it's been great. It does exactly what I need it to do.
However, in the past few weeks, it has almost stopped working, because it fails to connect the the mail server (most of the time). The whole exercise (blog & e-mail) is hosted on a shared Go Daddy server, but their support operation reckon they're not to blame (they would, wouldn't they!)
I've tried running Postie in debug, and the initial report appears as below - not much help. Go Daddy support suggest that I run a traceroute on the e-mail, but I'm not certain as to how to do this from within Postie. However, it would be clearly useful to get a log of the communication between Postie and the mail server.
Sometimes everything works fine - but that's so infrequent that I cannot now rely on the system to have posted my e-mail unless I go in and run a manual posting. I am using SetCronJob to keep the site active.
Apart from ditching Go Daddy (unfortunately not practical in the short term) does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this
