Posted pictures not correct size

When I upload a picture, then post it if the dimensions are 800×600 it post just fine, but if they are more like 600×800 it shrinks the photo. I thought by changing the settings for embeds, I would fix this problem but it still happens. Is there a simple setting I missed?
