I have WP set up on my domain account, and haven't used the Post via e-mail for months. But now that I started again, the posts are only getting to my mailserver, not to WordPress. I'm guessing that there may be a config setting that needs tweaking.
Is this something that that can be fixed fairly easily?
I wish it did!
Unlike rbr451, I haven't set up a parallel account like that.
Every post I've sent just sits on my ISP server until I open up the webmail client and delete it.
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but have you double checked all of the settings in Admin/Settings/Writing/Post by email?
Checked through http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_by_Email ? Especially Step 3, Testing and Troubleshooting sections.
I double checked in the sense that I went through each of the steps outlined on the /wp-admin/options-writing.php page of the blog concerned. Then did it all again with a different account - which failed as well. Then did it again on a wordpress-hosted blog - which was successful.
The page you've pointed to is more complex, but I will work through it and hopefully find the missing item that way.
Fixed.
Two things:
1) the login name requires the addition of domain info, e.g. @domain.net
2) activation.
I opted for the iframe/footer/refresh mode.
Both of these could be mentioned in the options page, no?
So an appreciative thanks to you for the pointer to the Blog_by_Email Codex page.
