Has anyone developed a plugin for something like this? I want to be able to write posts from within whatever text editor I choose (in this case Dreamweaver), and I'm wondering if there is a better way rather than copying and pasting into the admin?

I know FTP is probably not the ideal way to do it, either. Perhaps there's a script that can be run from a desktop to utilize xmlrpc?

Probably not a common request, I know.

And no, I won't pay for something like MarsEdit or Ecto. That's more than what I need.

Maybe there's something in the Weblog_Client list that will fit the bill.

    Also Post_to_your_blog_using_email is another option.

Hi there, you could always try windows live writer, its free.
Connects to wordpress easily. Only uses ftp settings to send photos with a post or page, also allows which category you send to, you can save posts locally on your hard drive, publish or send to blog as unpublished.
    hope this helps.
mike.PS. live writer uses xmlrpc to send posts and pages, but needs ftp details for images.

@MichaelH: Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look.

@Mikey1: Thanks, but I should have stipulated that I'm on OSX... Plus I don't want to be dependent on software that I'm not already using. I may be asking for something that has a very limited audience. I'll update here with any findings.

you cannot post to your blog via FTP, and you never will be able to.

FTP is not that kind of protocol.
