This is a simple Q but it's driving me potty. How can I display a list of post titles of a particular category (eg "news") in a page, along the lines of:

    News item 1(15th Whatever, 2013)
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Aenean commodo ligula eget dolor. Aenean massa.

    News item 1 (12th Never, 2013)
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Aenean commodo ligula eget dolor. Aenean massa.

Without going into code, if possible, as this is just a grace note and I'm short of time. I've looked at the display posts shortcode but that displays the full post text in the page. I've tried the plugins List Category Posts and Posts in Page - ditto. I've searched the Codex for "posts in page" and similar, but only found old code solutions.

This must be a really simple thing to do, and I'm sure I'll shout D'OH!! when someone tells me how to do it. It's easy enough to put a widget with latest posts in a widgetable area, but I can't see how to put them onto a page.

I've used WP for years, as blog platform and CMS, and know my way around it, yea unto some code editing. I'm currently using Woothemes Canvas.

TIA for putting me out of my misery.

    Fred

Ok, please ignore this. There's something strange going on with a particular page on my site. When I created a new page and used the List Category Posts plugin I got what I was after.
