   Ive set my default thumbnail size to 610x200. When I upload a new featured image for a post, wordpress will not enlarge a smaller image to 610. It will crop a larger image down though.

   Is there something Im misunderstanding about this feature? I must always upload images that are 610px wide or larger?

   WordPress can only create smaller images from your uploaded image. It cannot enlarge it.
