I have established a personal standard of capitalizing the first letter of all post tags. Recently, I have run across articles about the future of tagging which seem to lean towards all lowercase. Is it a worthwhile effort to change all tags to lowercase?

There's no SEO implication. It's just become a standard to have them be lower case (and categories be upper case).
