Post processing bug WP2.5 WHERE to squash it? (3 posts)

I am using Andrew Sutherland's 'Democracy' poll plugin to include polls into posts. The coding that calls the plugin in the post is {democracy:3}. When I save the post the TinyMCE 3 editor returns this: \n<div>{democracy:3}</div>\
Similarly, the FCKeditor produces a variant \<div>n<div>{democracy:3}</div></div>\. Where in the php form processing do I need to look to fix this bug. Is there a patch for this?

The plugin works in WP 2.3.3 without placing n and extraneous div's around the on page code.

Any advice on this bug hunt will be gratefully received. Thanks

the patch is not to use the visual editor.

Thanks for your response. Not using the visual editor is not a solution. The intended users of the site are not tech savvy.
