   Hi everyone,

   I'm making a sound library site using wordpress.

   Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to organise the site so visitors can search the individual sounds? Does each sound need to have it's own page or post? Should they be broken down into categories first? i.e. Nature (category) - Parks (category) - Summer Morning in Park (post)...

   I'm very new to this and so far my sounds are not "searchable" which is an obvious problem for a library of any description.

   Any help would be much appreciated!

   Couple quick ideas.

   Use custom post type for sounds with categories or possibly custom taxonomies for additional groupings.

   Each sound would be a separate post with unique values added as custom meta fields. If the sounds can be grouped by different means (location, type of animal, etc) use custom taxonomies to group the sounds together.

   Hi Nate,

   Thanks so much for writing back, really appreciated. While I'm perhaps under qualified to edit the code without guidance, the taxonomies sound like a great idea I will definitely use that.

   More Info:
   I'm currently using Audio Player (Version 2.0.4.1 | By Martin Laine) to preview the sounds in a standard post format.

   and... WP eStore Version v5.9.9.2 | By Ruhul Amin to sell the sounds.

   When I'm looking at the category page featuring several sound "posts", the Audio Player doesn't work, it says [Audio clip: view full post to listen]. Is there a fix for that too so files can be previewed and purchased from the preview page like what I've tried to do junglesonic.com - browse location - Europe - England (sadly without search functionality).

   When I make an audio post as you suggested with the code from my Audio Player and WP eStore, I can preview the sound file on the category page but cannot click through to the shopping cart on the post to buy...

   Any ideas there?

   I've got "Browse a category" (custom menu item) with several categories underneath it. You can see in "Exteriors" I've tried t oput a post in there but the audio player won't work.

   Under "Browse location" - "Europe" - "England", I've made a nice list with preview mp3 playback and the cart option but they are all on one page so you can't search the sounds individually.

   Please let me know if you need more info - and seriously- THANKS!

   I had a look over at your site. I am not familiar with the two plug-ins you mention, but I will give it my best.

   It appears the WP eStore does not use custom post types, but rather a custom table. This makes it hard to add good searching it appears. The product search doesn't really seem to work. I looked over the plugin page for the Audio Player plugin, but couldn't see a reference to your specific questions. I did find a reference from a web search. It appears if the post is displayed with the excerpt only, [Audio clip: view full post to listen] is displayed. To play the audio it requires the full content of the post. One of the other concerns is it appears if you won't set up the Audio Player settings correctly, anyone can download the audio though the RSS feed.

   I would suggest perhaps, as you don't appear to be fully set up yet, that you think about moving to another WordPress e-commerce plugin. There are two recent excellent free plugins that use custom post types and taxonomies / categories. This allows the default WordPress search to locate each of the sounds. Take a look at:

   I've checked out these other plug ins and they look quite good too. I'll need do some more reading! If only there was a theme with built in shopping cart just made for what I'm trying to make!
