    Hi,

I have made many post on this blog but suddenly today when I wrote a post, published it and tried to view the published post I got problems.

It started by the post wasn’t showing on the front page but was in the category. I fiddled a bit trying some suggestions on the forum, disabled plugins etc but made no difference.

Trashed the post and rewrote it as a new post. Now I get this message whenever I try and view it.

This webpage has a redirect loop
The webpage at http://exercisesforosteoarthritis.com/degenerative-osteoarthritis/what-foods-are-good-for-joints/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
    Learn more about this problem.
Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

Clearing my cookies made no difference so this is a server error (OMG terrifying for non techie like me!)

Now the post shows on the home page (left in full there for the moment) but if I try and use the continue to read from the category I still get the same result.

I am using standard Twenty Ten standard theme.

The category has other posts in it with no problems.

This is probably too much information and I have bored you to death but HELP!!!!

Please if you give answers which require changing loops and things can you give idiot proof, step by step instructions. Thanks so much…

  • Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks & deleting the .htaccess file in your WordPress root folder.. If this works, then try setting your custom permalink structure back up again.

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks for getting back so quick. Yes if I change to default it all works but when I change back it goes back to how it was. Any suggestions as I like my peramlinks to show custom?
    THANKS AGAIN!

Whoops I have not followed all the instructions. Yes when I change the permalinks it works fine. But what is my .htaccess file in your WordPress root folder and where do I find it please?
    Thanks.

I can find a file in my file manager folder called .htaccess file at my Hostgator cpanel that was last modified today. Is that the one you mean? I don’t want to delete anything I shouldn’t!

No worries Esmi all sorted. No idea what I did but fiddled with the permalinks switcing to different settings for a bit, never touched the .htaccess and it sorted itself. Thanks.
