Post images point to incorrect location

Setup:
Server: AWS Elastic Beanstalk, CNAME Cloudfront, RDS Database
I thought I saw this issue elsewhere but now I can’t find it. When an author uploads an image in the post editor, it uploads directly to the server. When the post is published, It starts loading it from the CDN.
But when the author goes back in to edit the post, the image in the post is still pulling from the server location, not the CDN. Is there something I’m not doing right?
Our issue is that we’re on Elastic Beanstalk, so when new instances are created for higher traffic, all the images uploaded since the last deployment are going to show up as broken, since they won’t exist on the server anymore.
