So I've been reading the article on what to do when you're hacked, and the related info about adding AUTH_KEY and AUTH_SALT to the wp-config.php in the main WP directory.

If they don't exist in the current wp-config, do I just... make them and toss them in there with the other define statements?

Thank you, adpawl. I've done that. The question is, what do I do with them once I've generated them? They don't exist to be replaced in wp-config: do I just add them to the wp-config after all the other define statements?

You should add it to your wp-config.php
    ....anywhere between <?php and ?>
    Look into sample wp-config-sample.php
