Post Content Disappearing When Saving Drafts

    Hi,

    I had this problem before, and it seems that it’s back…

    I wrote a post on my blog, nothing unusual. Pressed “save draft”, the page reloaded and the content was lost. The visual editor was blank, as well as the HTML editor.

    Retrieved the content from auto-save. Repeated. Once the page reloaded, the visual editor went blank again.

    After ten or so tries, I finally managed to see the post content on the editor. Pressed “publish”… but the post is totally void of content on my blog.

    I tried a couple of trick, like disabling all plugins, starting another post etc. but nothing worked.

    As I said, I had the problem before with one particular page in my blog, which had a lot of thumbnails on it. At the time, I though it was somehow related to the number of pictures I had on that page. Eventually, I moved on, deleted the page, changed blog theme etc.

    Any idea what could cause the problem? This is really annoying, as I’m trying to publish posts!

    I ran into this issue once and found out it is because of my theme. I was running WPRemix 2 and WordPress 2.8 then which was not compatible with each other. May not the solution to your problem but thought I’d put it out there anyways. See if the problem exists if you are using the default theme.

    I tried the default theme and I still had the problem. I guess it is not theme related…

    This could be a browser problem as well. Have you tried clearing your cache, deleting cookies, etc.?

    I’ve also recently started having this problem.

    WP will let me type roughly up to around 450 words and save or publish… but after that point, say 500 words, it will clear the post content every time I hit “Save Draft” or “Publish”.

    This seems to happen both when typing the content in or copying and pasting.

    I have tried in different browsers, and changed to the default theme with no joy. Fairly sure the problem begun before upgrading to WP 2.8.1

    Theme is Arras 1.3.5

    Wordpress.com stats

    Any ideas on what I could try?

    As far as I know, it’s not browser related. I tried with different browsers, different computers, clearing caches etc.

    Faithstudio, we do seem to have the same problem. However, it also seem to be random because some posts are fine and some aren’t! And I can’t figure out what triggers the problem.

    Are you able to post at all?

    I’d say 90% of my posts are fine, 10% have this problem.

    Same problem here. What I did was save the post with a smaller amount of content (say 500 words or less) and then gradually add/save the content until the post was complete. This works. Don’t know why. Definitely a new WordPress feature (not a browser issue).
