• I’m thinking about switching from Nucleus to WordPress. I have only a few weeks of posts on my Nucleus blog, but I’ve never tried importing posts from one blog to another, and I only know HTML, but planning on learning PHP. Plus, I will be using the exact same URL if I do this.
Can my Nucleus posts/archives be imported, and on the same URL? I was thinking I could always just link to the archives on the old blog if nothing else was workable.
One other question: I have my Nucleus blog on my domain with this ending /blog and the WordPress on my domain has this ending /blogs.
Is there a simple way to just drop the s on the Word Press to easily make the transition once I get things in place?

No need to respond to this post. I’ve found another alternative to what I was seeking.

What solution did you find? I wish to import my whole nucleus database into WordPress also and could not find a suitable hack for it.

Is there a solution out there to convert nuclues data to wordpress, yet?

    Hello.
Do we need to do anything from the nucleus side before making the transition using import-rss?

You need to save the RSS feed as a file on disk. What I did was to edit the xml-rss2.php skin (you can do this from NucleusCMS’s admin) to allow exporting of 500 entries, rather than my normal 15. That way, I got them all. Then I clicked on the rss link on my weblog page and saved the resulting file.
You need to upload that file to your server and edit the top of the import-rss.php file to point to your NucleusCMS import file.
Let me know if I can help further.
    <rb>

I did the first part and increased the entries number to include all entries.
Where is the rss link to click and download the resulting file? Is it on the normal nucleus page or inside the admin panel?

Ok, it worked, thank you. I just had to look a bit closer to see where to download it.
I can see that the comments were not imported since they were not exported by Nucleus. Do you know if there is a workaround to this?
Also, what did you mean by “allow comments” flag?
    Thanks again.

Besides manually changing the allow comment flag for each imported post, is there a quicker way to set the allow comment flags for all the posts to open? I’m assuming you can do it with php or phpmyadmin, but I don’t know the code to do that.
    Thanks

I did this but it only imported the abbreviated content from nucleus. i.e. “This is an entry summary, and has about three lines…”
How do you tell nucleus to export the entire blog posting instead of just the summarized version to the xml file?
    Thanks for any help,

RSS feeds is a nice robust idea. I wanted to try to preserve the data and comments (eventhough I have only a few). So I decided to write a Nucleus 2.0 -> WordPress 1.2 import script. A couple of notes:
    1. I assume Nucleus and WordPress share the same mysql database
    2. It allows you to only import one nucelus blog at a time
    3. It imports users, posts, and comments based on unique titles.
    4. It doesnt correctly import blog settings (not a big deal)
    5. User names are imported as Nicknames (doesnt fill in First/last)
    6. It doesnt handle Nucleus karma.
If you give it a try, let me know if it works for your. I wouldnt mind tweaking it if you have any problems. Just email me ‘camus@onegoodcookie.com’ You can download it at:

tried that script above for Nucleus 3.1 and got the following errors
Database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ORDER BY catid’ at line 1]
SELECT * FROM nucleus_category WHERE cblog= ORDER BY catid
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in c:\wamp\www\wordpress\wp-admin\import-nucleus.php on line 130

Does anyone have a copy of this script? The link above doesn’t work.
