    Hello, everyone.

I’ve been reading all over the place looking for an answer to this: can I have a customized theme if WordPress hosts my blog? I’m not going to be making a theme for the public– there’s too much junk I don’t want in the code for my taste.

There is a ton of information about how to make a theme, and I follow that. I just don’t know how to upload my index.php or CSS files to the WordPress server that hosts my blog.

If it’s not possible, I’ll have to figure out how to configure my wn Web server on my linux machine here.

    Thanks in advance,
    Luke.

  • luke .. from what i have read .. you CANNOT have a customized theme on WORDPRESS.com accounts. if you want a CUSTOM theme, either downloaded and uploaded to your WP installation, or modified by you in some way, you will have to have a hosted account with someone other than WordPress.com … you can check out some independent hosts that offer WP support. these willbe your best bet.

you can play around with your Linux box .. but sometimes, finding people that can offer you support right out of the box and immediately, deem to be an easier route.

if you need anything, let me know or maybe someone else here can help you out if i cannot …

    take care

    wordpress.COM support is at http://wordpress.com/forums/

Can’t do a lot of customization there, but they continually are adding more variety in themes.

Well, that’s that then! Should have caved in and asked earlier haha.

Now to find out how to run my own web server!

    Thanks, team.
