First of all, thanks for writing this plugin. I was forced to seek other options for a friend’s site in which I had installed Nextgen Gallery and the NextGen Custom Fields plugin to achieve what your plugin does much more easily.

One issue I’ve encountered is that the custom sort order for my gallery thumbnails is reset back to the default order if I click the Edit Gallery button.

Right now I only have 2 sites as a base of comparison. In the first example the WP gallery’s link is set to none and the WP Gallery Custom Links plugin is not installed. If I edit this gallery my custom sort order remains intact

In the second example, I installed the WGCLP to allow me to link the individual thumbnails to my friends portfolio custom post type work samples. I can set the gallery sort order and save the gallery but if I edit the gallery, the sorting reverts to the default.

Is this a known issue or has anyone else experienced it?

  • If you disable WP Gallery Custom Links on the second site and try to edit the gallery sort order then, does it save it?

Hmm…Something I should have tried first. The sort order still breaks. Guess it’s not the plugin. Now I have to figure out what else it could be.

If I had to guess, I’d say try looking to see if your theme has a custom gallery display function, and if it’s loading the images in the order they’re specified on the gallery shortcode. Good luck!

I actually built the theme from Starkers, same as the other one. Worth a look through the functions though.

As it turns out, the problem was in the functions file. I had replaced the Starkers script enqueuer with a different version. Once I reset the enqueuer back to the Starkers default, I installed the plugin “Use google Libraries.” Now when I edit the gallery, the sort order displays the way I left it from the last edit.

Thought you would like to know.
