I’m using self-hosted WordPress 3.9.2 with Jetpack plugin and Illustratr theme. How do I make my home page bring up the portfolio page, or a category page?

Under Appearance > Customize > Static Front Page, when I choose the static page radio button, NO dropdown menus appear next to “Front page” and “Posts page.” This is different from what’s shown at http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page#WordPress_Static_Front_Page_Process

I am not familiar with “how” to create a static page in WP, especially in the hosted version (never seen it). So I would refer you to WP for that answer. However, once you have figured it out, then it is a simple matter of embedding the WP-Portfolio shortcode into your front page. Please refer to the WP-Portfolio documentation for further usage instructions.
