Popularity Contest Not Detecting Admin (2 posts)

    Alex,

I'm using Popularity Contest 1.2.1 and WP 2.0.5. I was looking through my server error log and found the following message:

script '/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.tld/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/popularity-contest.php' not found or unable to stat, referer: http://www.mydomain.tld/wp-admin/edit.php

A similar message is generated for every Admin menu movement entry (Manage, Plugins, Options, Options->Popularity).

It appears the PC is trying to record a "view" for every Admin screen and isn't detecting I'm logged in as Admin.

    Mike

Popularity Contest doesn't record views when you are in the admin interface - not sure why you're getting that error but it's some other problem.

It's a good idea to do the following:

    1. deactivate all other plugins
    2. activate a copy of the default theme
    3. enable the plugin with the default theme, adding in any template tags you wish

If the plugin works properly on the default theme with no other plugins enabled, then it is likely mis-behaving on your site due to a conflict with your theme or other plugins you have enabled.
