Just wanted to say I'm basically finally converted to wordpress at http://www.ensight.org. I'm not sure what the most traffic'd blogs for WP are, but I can't be far off with 100K monthly visitors.
Really enjoying WordPress so far. Being able to modify it, and dynamic pages (no rebuilds) were huge pluses in moving from MT. I really enjoy MT and will likely be hacking together some of the things I enjoyed about it... But yeah, definitely a great piece of software, and thanks to the community to all the help they gave me during installation :)

It's pretty heavy, but I think it's important to draw a line between initial download and repeated download. Unchanging graphics, like the background, along with a lot of other elements are downloaded once and then pulled from the cache. From that point forward, you are generally dealing with the xhtml and associated post graphics being pulled down the pipe.
Still, lighter is always better, especially on when it's a person first visit. If you take too long for the first one, there won't be a second.
