Pondering a Move to WordPress.org (2 posts)

I currently have a blog at WordPress.com, but am considering a move. I have a little experience from years ago of creating web pages from scratch, so this might be an interesting adventure.

I have several reasons for moving, but a big one is WP.com has changed their scripts to require Google scripts for creating posts. I use NoScript, and if I do not allow these scripts, much of the functionality is lost. When I asked about this in the forum at WP.com, I was told the scripts are for their geotagging feature and these issues are side-effects. I have no plans on using geotagging and I guess I hesitate to have that script running when I do not know what exactly it is doing.

If I install WP on my computer and use it to create pages/posts, will I be using the same tools as wp.com, thus requiring these scripts?

I hope this is not a silly question, but it is important to me before I take the plunge. I am eager to give this a try, having more control of my website.

    Thank you very much.

No, themes and plugins might add scripts (to front and back end) if needed. WordPress by itself does use scripts in the admin area but it can still be used if scripts are disabled with NoScript.
