   how can i make the home tab point to the default home page ?

   Depends on how the tab is created.

   If you can manually set the url of the tab in the theme you can for example use:
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/home_url

   Otherwise please provide more information with what you mean with 'home tab', and how it is created.

   ok .. i have a navigation bar with the following 6 tabs

   Home :About :Contact: blog: Portfolio: Services.

   what i would like to do is the following:

   when a user selects the home tab on the navigation bar it takes them to the default front page

   also want the post to only appear on the blog tab
